Gratitude

Life is not given to you. Life is given for you.

Wow…Take a moment and sit on that! Life is not given to you, but for you…..In an instant the existence of my very breath define what it is really about…and I just want to say THANK YA!
My definition of GRATITUDE is to know; to show; to flow; and to sow…..A state of being, expecting, giving.
So I took the Oprah challenge this week and decided that I would start a Gratitude Journal. Write down (5) things that you are grateful for each day, is what the challenge is. The last two days, I have had to fight off “comparing” what others are saying in their gratitude stories. For example…People are writing things like I’m grateful for the “the chirping bird” or “the peaceful ocean waves”. Mine was more like “Husband fixed dinner tonight” or “Mom took kids to Baseball game”….They just didn’t seem warm and fuzzy like some of the ones I was reading…but Oh well; it’s MY STORY and not theirs. So in order for me to get the revelation of gratitude, I decided to stay true to what I was feeling at the moment.
Have you ever competed against someone else’s story? I surely have. Mine just didn’t seem interesting enough, or really the root of it was I didn’t really think I was worthy enough or my story was worth reading…But that’s another blog in the works. I’m sure.
This morning while in the shower, this question came to me. Where are you in your journey of life at this very moment? Are you at a rest stop and decided to take a pause for a minute or two? Are you in the fast lane, driving by folks, looking at the past in the rear view mirror? Did you pull over to the slow lane, because you were intimidated by all the pressure from behind? Are you speeding at a rate that is not safe for you or the people around you? Are your windows down, enjoying the season? Are you excited now, because you finally see a sign that your next exit, or move is near?
Where are you right now? What is your story right now? I heard on the television last night, that your story is either a warning or an example. Which one is yours? That question can be answered by your right now…Breathe right now, because after the next breathe it will be in your past. Just that quick…You can re-define your past…Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Breathe again. Experience Life in Full. Let began to show gratitude with each breath. Join me and millions of others this month as we write daily (5) things that we are grateful for.
Today I’m grateful for the breath of Life! I’m able to inhale and exhale freely.
“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.” -Psalm 30:11-12
In Christ.

Today I am grateful that I have opened myself up to love because my real friends made me realize my reasons where yet excuses to guard my heart. Life feels lighter when you’re not holding up walls and keeping up images. Thanks for the refreshing post … Long, deep breath.
Hey Deru! Congrats! I’m sure as you continue to open yourself up to love that you would agree that there is no greater gift. Remember it’s not to us but for us. Eat all of it and enjoy Sis! I’m looking for you setting the example of how to re-define your past!
Today I’m grateful that I’m happy and not ashamed of it… I had a “Grateful Journal” years ago and recently found it and was amazed of the little things that I was grateful for back then!! Life is a journey and I’m going to enjoy the ride and I’m going to Live Life in Full!! Thanks
I’ve been listening to “We are Grateful” for the last 2 days…
